Activated 5 April 1996 at Schweinfurt, Germany as part of the 2nd “Dagger Brigade” 1st Infantry Division (Mechanized) when the 2nd Battalion "Rogue", 64th Armor of the 1st “Raider Brigade” 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized) was reflagged.

Relieved 17 March 2008 from assignment to the 1st Infantry Division when it reflagged as 3rd Battalion 66th Armor "Black Knights" in Schweinfurt, Germany and assigned to the 172nd "Blackhawk" Infantry Brigade.

Reflagged at Fort Bliss, Texas as part of the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division.
